Become a Steamfitter/Pipefitter in the shipbuilding industry

Mi’kmaw Native Friendship Centre, NSCC and the Irving Shipbuilding Centre of Excellence have partnered to offer Pathways to Shipbuilding for Indigenous Students – an opportunity to get a free education and guaranteed job offer as a Steamfitter/Pipefitter (for those who meet hiring requirements). Successful applicants will receive:
  • Fully paid tuition and books
  • Living allowance
  • Additional supports and services (offered on an individual basis)
Starting June 2021
Who should apply? Mi’kmaq and Indigenous people interested in careers in shipbuilding as a Steamfitter/Pipefitter (a Plumbing trade) who meet the following requirements: • Must be a resident of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland or Prince Edward Island • Must hold Canadian citizenship or permanent residency • Must have high school diploma or equivalent • Must live in Halifax, Nova Scotia throughout the program • Must complete Canadian Government Security Clearances
