What is Head Start?
Head Start is a community program, which includes the cooperation of educators, physicians, nurses, social workers, parents, and teachers, in an effort to improve the development of children from 2 to 5 years old. Educators work with small groups of children enabling them to give more attention to children's individual needs.

The activities offered by the program rely on the interest, the creativity and a sense of pride that derive from the knowledge of the Mi’kmaq traditions and culture. The goal is to develop an early intervention strategy conceived and managed at the local level, to help the children and their families to acquire a positive self-image of themselves through an overall approach.
Eligibility
The First Nation Head Start Program is open to all First Nations children ages 2 to 5 years of age.
Enrollment
The program operates from September to June each year and follows the school year. The first day of Head Start will be Wednesday September 9th, 2020. Classes will run Monday to Thursday from 9am-12pm. Fridays are for the staff to prepare for the following weeks curriculum and disinfect the classroom.
We encourage anyone interested in enrolling his or her child/children in the program to register by September 3rd, 2021. This can be done by contacting the center at 902-742-6928 or .
