WFN/ABO WIND PROJECTS
In July 2021, the Nova Scotia government announced a Request for Proposals for the development of renewable energy projects. This announcement is linked to Nova Scotia’s goals to fight climate change and move to a more sustainable source of electricity.
Wasoqopa’q First Nation (WFN) strongly supports the benefits of introducing a cost-effective source of renewable energy to the Province.
AFN has recently entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with ABO Wind Canada in the development of two wind projects.
- Sandy Point Wind Farm – Shelburne County
- Melvin Lake Wind Farm – Halifax Regional Municipality
We are excited to participate in Canada’s growing clean energy sector.
These projects will provide many opportunities throughout the development, construction and operational aspects of the wind farms.

RE: SECURE OF INDIAN CERTIFICATE STATUS CARDS (SCIS)
Important information regarding status cards past renewal date.
Since April 2020, Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) has extended the validity date of status cards and Temporary Confirmation of Registration Documents due to Covid – 19 pandemic. This extension will end May 1, 2022.
Registered persons with a status card past the renewal date should renew now. Applicants should submit a complete application with all required documents . complete applications will be processed in 8 to 12 weeks.
A person’s registration under the Indian Act does not expire . The 10-digit registration number can be used to access certain services. However, registered persons with a status card past the renewal date may find it difficult to access some services and programs.
Should you require assistance with the applications please feel free to contact me.
