GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Acadia First Nation (AFN), owns and operates the Gold Bean Cafe located in Gold River, NS.  The café is an upscale licensed sit-down restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating, a take-out menu, specialty coffee drinks, with gluten free, vegetarian and vegan options.  AFN is currently recruiting for part-time wait staff that is responsible for working as part of a team, in a fast-paced environment, providing excellent customer service, and adhering to all health and safety regulations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides excellent customer service, understanding menu items, specials and other related products available for customers
  • Follows health, safety, and sanitation guidelines for take away and sit-down service table side
  • Maintains front of house service and eating areas throughout the shift, in accordance with health and safety regulations
  • Places and delivers customer orders for take away and sit-down service
  • Processes transactions with POS including cash, debit and credit card sales and balances till at end of shift
  • Places, delivers and conducts POS transactions for customer room service and catering orders for the Tru Hilton Hotel
  • Assists in preparing and serving menu items including desserts and beverages
  • Addresses customer inquires and or concerns, involves Management as appropriate
  • Maintains front of house inventory, including the restocking of service stations and coolers with products during shift, communicating low product inventory to Management
  • Adheres to all Acadia First Nation Policies & Procedures
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma with knowledge and experience with electronic equipment (e.g. cash register, scanners)
  • 6 month’s minimum experience in customer service industry
  • Previous work experience in hospitality and or catering sector is considered an asset
  • Cash handling experience preferred
  • Food Hygiene or Food Handlers Certification
  • Emergency First Aid/CPR and WHMIS
  • Working knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety standards and restaurant regulations
  • Detail oriented and highly observant
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to excel in a fast paced, highly stressful work environment

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Acadia First Nation (AFN), owns and operates the Gold Bean Cafe located in Gold River, NS.  The café is an upscale licensed sit-down restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating, a take-out menu, specialty coffee drinks, with gluten free, vegetarian and vegan options.  AFN is currently recruiting for a part-time cook that is responsible for working as part of a team, in a fast-paced work environment to prepare quality food in accordance with the menu, to customers, with strict adherence to all health and safety regulations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Follows health, safety, and sanitation guidelines for the preparation and service of all menu items, specials and related products
  • Establishes daily cook stations (hot and or cold side) and stocks them with the necessary supplies to prepare menu for service
  • Prepares a variety of foods, grilling, frying, chopping, sautéing, broiling meat, seafood, poultry, vegetables, sauces and cold food items to standardized recipes
  • Takes inventory counts before and after shifts, completing daily and weekly food inventory or storage sheets
  • Estimates expected food consumption, based on demand and inventory counts to determine the requisition of supplies; may place orders for inventory
  • Maintains the work area throughout the shift, keeping preparation and service areas clean and sanitized in observance of safe, sanitary food handling practices
  • Adhere to all cost control guidelines that have been established, monitoring stock and utilizing products prior to expiration date to minimize waste
  • Ensures the highest standards to ensure consistency in food quality and speed of quality service
  • Establishes and maintains well stocked inventory of the Gold Nugget AFN C-Store, preparing and packaging products for sale
  • Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions. troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventative maintenance, calling for repairs
  • Maintains daily temperature logs, checking freezers, refrigerators, or heating equipment (and record in log) to ensure proper functioning
  • Creates signage for daily specials and or special occasions and events
  • Prepares orders for catering services
  • Adheres to all Acadia First Nation Policies & Procedures
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Culinary arts diploma and or culinary skills certification from a recognized educational institution
  • Previous work experience in hospitality and or catering sector
  • Food Hygiene or Food Handlers Certification
  • Emergency First Aid and CPR
  • Emergency First Aid/CPR and WHMIS
  • Working knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety standards and restaurant regulations
  • Detail oriented and highly observant
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to manage a fast paced, highly stressful work environment

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Acadia First Nation (AFN), owns and operates the Gold Bean Cafe located in Gold River, NS.  The café is an upscale licensed sit-down restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating, a take-out menu, specialty coffee drinks, with gluten free, vegetarian and vegan options.  AFN is currently recruiting for a part-time prep-cook/dishwasher that is responsible for assisting the cooks with food preparation, food storage and maintaining clean dishware and food preparation equipment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Follows health, safety, and sanitation guidelines for the preparation and service of all menu items, specials and related products
  • Refers to the daily prep list at the start of each shift to understand duties
  • Prepares a variety of ingredients to support cooks in the preparation and service of menu items in accordance with standardized recipes
  • Establishes daily cook stations (hot and or cold side) and stocks them with the necessary supplies to prepare menu for service
  • Maintains the work area throughout the shift, keeping preparation and service areas clean and sanitized in observance of safe, sanitary food handling practices
  • Adheres to all cost control guidelines that have been established, monitoring stock and notifying the cooks of any product shortages for menu service
  • Labels and stocks all ingredients on shelves for organization and accessibility
  • Maintains daily temperature logs, checking freezers, refrigerators, or heating equipment (and record in log) to ensure proper functioning
  • Supports the cooks with basic cooking duties of menu items for service
  • Ensures the highest standards to ensure consistency in food quality and speed of quality service
  • Assists with maintaining inventory of the Gold Nugget AFN C-Store, preparing and packaging products for sale
  • Properly washes, stacks and stores dishware, glassware, silverware, cookware and storage containers, maintaining a clean kitchen throughout shift
  • Keeps dish area organized with clean and dry floors and free from clutter
  • Changes water machines and sinks regularly in accordance with proper sanitization guidelines
  • Assists in the organization and storing of food deliveries, including cold storage and storage shelves
  • Maintains trash removal, including emptying of full trash bins and any cardboard at end of each shift
  • Adheres to all Acadia First Nation Policies & Procedures
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Highschool diploma and or equivalent
  • Minimum one year’s demonstrated previous work experience as a prep-cook
  • Food Hygiene or Food Handlers Certification
  • Emergency First Aid/CPR and WHMIS
  • Working knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety standards and restaurant regulations
  • Detail oriented and highly observant
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Good organizational and time management skills
